Merdeka ‘crabby’ dinner and walking away

It is still not too late for me to say Happy Merdeka Malaysians! Well East Malaysians technically had their independence on September 16th, 1963 so let’s keep this Merdeka mood until September 16th yeah? Everybody happy with the arrangement? Not forgetting, to all my Muslim friends that started fasting since yesterday and going to do so for the rest of the month of Ramadhan – Selamat menjalankan ibadah puasa Ramadhan.

I was back in my hometown – Sarikei for the Merdeka weekends. I drove back to Sarikei on Saturday morning. A 6-hour journey, stopping twice, at Serian and Lachau. (Not Lanchau lah!) The next day I made a quick trip by bus to Sibu for another makan-makan gathering. Ehem, I attended few bloggers meets and the main agenda is always about food, so naturally after few meetings, yours truly received comments like “For some reasons he looked ‘well-fed‘ in this photo“.

Suituapui was kind enough to let me stay for the night, since we were having dinner and it would be quite an arrangement for me to travel back to Sarikei after the dinner, especially when you would have extra activities after the dinner which normally extended well… till late.

I had lunch with STP at Le Arc, a fine dining joint shortly after I arrived in Sibu. The jam at the esplanade area was terrible so we decided to have a lunch ‘date’ nearby. You can read about it at Suituapui’s blog, me not going to bore you with the same details again. I shall let Sibu’s own ‘Martin Yan’ (his previous Simon Yam nickname kenot pakai anymore!) to impress you with his photos and commentaries.

Then we had our dinner at Hai Bing Restaurant – to feast on the crabs!!! The attendees – Suituapui, Clare, Huai Bin, Beng Beng, Hang Yuh and well, aku lah!

As I am writing this post, all the them being the super efficient bloggers already posted their entries. (except Hang Yuh which is not a blogger, only a Facebooker by his own account). After dinner we went to R & R to have some elixirs of youth.

I drove back to Kuching on yesterday afternoon, another grueling 6-hour journey. It is like driving from Johor Bahru to Penang? Jauh perjalanan, luas pemandangan sakit punggung is apt to describe the trip haha!

I will be away from the internet for the rest of this week, so I may not be able to update this blog or reply to the comments until I come back. I am flying to Limbang tomorrow, going deep into the jungle (yes no joke!) and will be back in Kuching on Sunday. Work related, and I am looking forward to travel using long boat along Sungai Limbang and trekking the jungle, hopefully can shed some extra fat I gained during my trip to Sibu. HAHAHAHA!

  4. Hahahahahahaha!!! Good one, Clare!!! Too bad you didn’t take up the offer when I told you, “I’m very available!” as old lady’s out of town!…..Ya, Bong! Go curi all her photos! She stole mine! So lousy, she also wants to steal! I’ve the feeing that she thinks she looks so pretty in it! My equipment not good, but got the skill lah! U agree or not, Bong? Now, up to you all to imagine what I’m talking about!Hahahahahahaha!!!!

  9. I did, after isyak prayer. I’m not a big fan of crabs. Takes so much time to open, isi nye sikit je. cheh, buang karan.

    6 hour trip is like KL to KB, I’d be dead tired driving that far. Smoking helps I guess.

  10. I’m not a big fan of crab dishes either, atas sebab yang sama macam NH 😛 I prefer prawns or maybe soft-shelled crabs … ni lah dasar pemalas! LOL

    Bestnya trekking the jungle… and get paid to do it! :up: eh can claim outstation ka that trip?

    I just don’t have a photo of myself at the restaurant lah, summore Beng2’s pic of me was very blur, I can’t possibly put it up. Even if his equipment is better than yours but your photo is nicer. Yupe! Definitely the skill! Bwahahahahaa!!!

  18. the satisfaction of eating crabs comes from having to peel and dig here and there for the meat… haha why lar you ah dunno how to appreciate… hiahhh
