1st time intoxicated & stolen guide on how to make your own ‘tuak’

Friday, January 2nd, 2009 1,864 views

Today I am going to walk down the memory lane, again. I am going to share my 1st time intoxicated experience.

It happened when I was 10. Yes, you read that correctly. I was still a minor. No, I didn’t slip into any bar/club or joints selling alcoholic beverages. It happened at a longhouse, during Gawai festival. When I was a kid, I stayed at this place called ‘Jalan Hua Tai’ in Sarikei and many of the adjoining neighbours are of Iban etnicity. At that time, I knew jack shit about Iban language or customs and prior to that, I had never been to a longhouse.

The neighbours were friendly folks. I learned to speak Iban language from them, especially from this two big sisters, staying few rows from my place. That’s how I learnt to converse in Iban language, from them and other Iban friends staying nearby. After ‘mastering’ the language, I used it to impress Iban girls. Muahahaha!

Goodbye 2008! Roll up, broken resolutions and being reflective

This year I am going to write a summary of my year, taking a cue from michaelooi.net because I think it is a good way to gauge where you stand at the end of the year. It is time to being reflective and look back at what we have accomplished (and not) for the year.  I am intended to do this every year in the future starting from this post.

Resolutions are meant to be broken, that’s what pessimists some people say, but by having a list of ‘things to do’ and ‘marking yourself’ when the time comes, you’ll be able to benchmark yourself, against your previous self. Kinda stupid, no? But stupid things we love do, every now and then.

If you are able to plot your life on a graph, you’ll see if you are sinking fast to the bottom, maintaining a straight line, or for the best – going uphill. But, why many of us wait to reflect on our life only at the end of every year? We should do it every second, minute, and day or at every opportunity that we have. Looking back and retrace your steps, the act does wonders.

So, year 2008. How has it been for me? Fantastic? Mundane? Alright? So so? I guess it was not a bad year, compared to the year before (2007). I didn’t write any resolution for 2008, but I did in 2007.

2007, I was in a mess. By the end of the year, I still grappling with my life, so I decided to put everything on track in 2008 – the reason I didn’t write any resolution coming into 2008. I never wrapped up those resolutions I made in 2007, so perhaps it’s due time to have a peek and see how badly I fared?

Toughest Tag I Did So Far – ‘Killer Love’ Tag

Monday, October 20th, 2008 552 views

Lochoe started this killer tag, and the general response from those who did this tag, it’s a F-damn-tough tag to do. This tag is hard to do, especially if you have strings attached (read: in a relationship, married) Another reason is, it requires digging the past (sometimes it can be painful) and having a lot of courage, honesty and truthfulness to complete this tag. Put it this way, there are things we want to forget, and there are things we want to keep to ourselves, right? (and hidden from the rest, forever?)

So, Syam of Aeropama.com tagged me because he spent 4 torturing hours to complete his ’story’ and he wants me to endure such pain as well. Fine, let me try my very best.

OLD SKOOL TAG!

I got this from AloneinHome.com. He didn’t tag me but I love this tag so I do it! (edited a bit)

OLD SKOOL TAG

1) 5 bad habits when you were in your school days

* Reading comics in class, especially during Moral and BM classes. How to do it without getting caught? Put your comics in the desk, sit with your back rested on the chair, slightly away from the table and don’t sit straight. Sit like a lazy bum without backbone haha! Then, don’t get too absorbed in your reading, do it casually so the teacher will not notice :P I never get caught meh!

* Woke up late, missed my breakfast at the dining hall. (Bad habit, because until today I seldom take breakfast and I am okay with that) Then, late to class, always ended up standing in middle of the field while other students were standing in front of their class when the national and state anthem were playing. Kinda embarrassing when everybody can see you standing at the field from their class, but after a while I got used to it because I had some buddies to join me on the field hehe.. always those same faces.. late risers.
