Just came back from breakfast with Will Chua and Kong Kay. Will Chua is in Kuching now, he called me last night asking whether I would like to join him and Kong Kay for breakfast which I happily agreed. I met up with Will Chua and his friends - Siti and Peter at Cold Storage near Green Height. I parked my car there and joined their car, being the clueless Kuching bloody tourist hahahaha! Then we drove up to Batu Kawa, where Kong Kay was waiting somewhere along the road 
We reached our destination at Batu Kawa Bazaar and the moment I step out from the car, Kong Kay came to me, “Nah!! Your kompia!” Hahahaha! What a great meet up line!!!

We had our breakfast at this one coffee shop at Batu Kawa old town. I actually had no idea what is the coffee shop name because I didn’t pay attention to anything other than the food and ehem.. meeting new friends hehe.. but being the resourceful me (*brag brag.. gloat gloat*) I googled! True enough, Kong Kay blogged about it before here and here 
The coffee shop name is Chin Chan Lee, for direction to the place go read Kong Kay’s posts. 
In Kuching you always for either Sarawak Laksa or Kolo Mee for breakfast. We had Kolo Mee P’ang Ang (with Char Siew Oil) and 2 bowls of meatball and meat cake slices to be shared, and kompia!!

Kompia - A simple salted dough, baked in traditional open oven (quoting STP) best served hot because it tends to get hard and ‘chewy’ when it is cold. This is the original version, my favorite!
Kolo Mee with Char Siew Oil - I must say the taste is heavenly.. really!! Very NOICE!!! 9.5/10
Old fashion soda - the venerable cream soda (Will Chua and Kong Kay had this), Teh C, 2 bowls of meat balls and meat cake slices soup, chili padi with limequart and soy sauce to down with the noodle and soup

It was a MUD FEST at Sarawak’s Rainforest World Music Festival!!
This is how the ground look like after the rain..
Yes.. because it was raining the first night, the stage area end up like a mud pool. I heard rumours this one fella jinx the festival, next time please do not invite him.. - note to organizer. Those who went for the festival, you guys know who I am referring to Some more reduced the allocation for this year edition.
However, the Tourism Ministry has dramatically reduced the funding for Sarawak’s Rainforest World Music Festival, to RM70,000 from RM500,000 last year.
What was more disappointing, was that the World Music Festival organised in Penang received RM1.7 million last year and RM1.65 million this year.
Hey!! That’s not fair!! Give more fund so we can have better ground to stand. There was like 4 inches of mud pool, it stinks to heaven, you probably think you are partying in a pig sty. The organizer put some sand and wooden saw crumbs but it was not helping. The ground smell like horses.
Mud spa anyone? It’s free and aromatic.
Ok bitching aside.. I had so much fun at Sarawak Cultural Village, where the event was held. What fun? I get to meet a hell lot of people as watched many awesome artists from all over the world performing. I finally had the chance to meet Melbie, Man-D and Ladybird. I also met Mar, Lola and Goolooloo, Charyelle and her bodyguard there.
I saw Kenny Sia with Pink Pau aka Su Ann, at one point they were just standing in front of me.. but no I didn’t take photo with them. I was shy. Nyahahahaha! Some of the ‘famous’ people I saw at the festival - DJ Dominic from Channel V, Jehan Miskin, Manomaniam from Kopitiam, Alex Yoong, Marion… Yeah, I know them but they don’t know me. Haha! Then I met with some Facebook friends - Durvan, Anansa and make a hell lot of new friends - Rowena, Jackson, Vellu, Chitra, Fiza, Raha and many names I cannot remember. Blame it on the excessive elixir of life I had
Oh, Noktah Hitam, I saw Iqhbal there. First thing he mentioned to me when he saw me was ‘&!*@*… tits…#(#&&!@’ (I wasn’t paying attention until he mentioned the magic word..) The rest of our conversation I shall censor it for the good of innocent minds reading this blog.
Wait, before I unleash the photos.. Cibol farker, I met you for like what?? 10 seconds? At the entrance, took photos, then poofs! Gone! I saw him again at the workshop but he’s ‘busy’ He did sms me few times to report his ‘meeting’ with famous people LOL! I tried to call him when Pat, Navsta and Mar wanted to take group photos but Cibol was already in the bus hahaha! No wonder Melbie and Man-D complaining about not seeing you. Man-D never get the chance to see you.. I heard. Siaplah you kena sapu from them

Last Sunday, I had a ‘makan’ session with some friends at Lau Ya Keng Food Court, Carpenter Street.
Lau Ya Keng Food Court is located opposite a Chinese temple along Carpenter Street . It is very easy to find, smack in the middle of Kuching city centre. A simple food court that has been around for decades and is very popular with locals - breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Since I am still considered as a noob in Kuching, a lady friend ordered for us.
She was from Kuching, now residing in Petaling Jaya and was in Kuching here for leisure. 
Another friend with his partner from Penang - they were here for the Rainforest World Music Festival also joined us for the ‘makan’ session. We had Oh Chor Mee and Dry ‘Kiaw’.
Dry ‘Kiaw’/'Pien Neek’/Wantan/Wanton/Wuntun
Kuching people called it ‘kiaw’ (Hokkien dialect) and if you go to Sibu or Sarikei they called it ‘Pien Neek’ (Foochow dialect) and in Peninsular, they just called it ‘wantan’ (Cantonese dialect). In Itali, they called it ‘ravioli’. Ok I bluff you on the Italian part You can have the wantan dry or with soup. I don’t think they serve it dry in Peninsular, they only have fried and soup wantan. Probably it is because, from what I noticed that, in Sarawak you get a generous meat filling for the wantan but in Peninsular they are pretty kiam-siap (stingy) so most of the time you end up having just the skin/wrappers-made from fresh dough with insignificant meat filling. Imagine a bowl of ‘dry wantan’ where you just eat the wrappers. Ughh…
Oh Chor Mee - Chinese Black Vinegar Mee.
It is basically Kolo Mee added with Chinese black vinegar according to my friend. I first thought it is just another Kolo Mee with extra ingredients. (Special Kolo Mee) The taste?? Awesome!! The vinegar gave the mee some extra flavor and aroma - slightly sweet and sourish, add that to the saltiness and sweetness of the Kolo Mee, it is a make-match made in heaven. Go satisfy your craving now!!

I was in Sibu yesterday. Met up with STP, Huai Bin and Goolooloo. Originally I was there to meet STP, because I wanted to bash him up for ‘butchering’ my slimy lady’s fingers post I was back to Sarikei on Friday night, spent a day at home sweet home, the next morning went up to Sibu to ‘bash up’ STP.
Then STP told me he invited Huai Bin and Goolooloo aka Mary to join our little makan session (with STP sure makan lah what else? :P) and I was more than happy to meet new friends. I arrived in Sibu around 8.45am, STP fetched me from the bus terminal and we headed for breakfast at Grace Cafe. I had this for breakfast, while waiting for HB and Mary to show up.
Dien Bien Hu aka Tien Pien Hu aka Dian Bian Gu… whatever they call it, it’s yummylicious!!
I finally had the chance to meet the legendary sixthseal.com’s blogger - Mr. Poh Huai Bin in person. I have been reading his blog for quite sometime since his ‘wild’ days. Cool guy I must say. (That’s all you can say about a guy in this blog.. say too much it may end up misinterpreted by some people.. especially when you have ehemm.. Drumstick, STP, Melbie, Man-D, Lola and Mar commenting.. Nyahahahaha!!) A very friendly, charming guy (that explained his persona among the girls heh??? Hahaha!) We chatted like old buddies, plus when you have STP around, you will never end out of topics to talk about.
Goolooloo was late because ehem.. of some miscommunications, so we decided to go to STP’s favourite’s - Ruby Restaurant. I was craving for the Butter Scotch Prawns and man, you got to try it when you are in Sibu. Mouth watering..

Finally, Goolooloo aka Mary, the Taukeh-Nio came to meet us at Ruby Restaurant and we shall wait no more! Bring on the food!! I did not take any photo because my toy is… too small to bring out (Lucky Claire was not there.. ) So I pimped any photo I can get from HB and Mary.
