This is a conversation between me and one banking officer when I called their helpline for assistance.

Bank Officer: Good evening, sir. How may I assist you?

Me: Good evening. I am going to make a credit card payment but I forget my credit card number. Would you please check the number for me?

Bank Officer: May I know who is on the line please?

Me: Bong here.

Bank Officer: Okay Mr Bong. May I have your IC (Identity Card) number please?

Me: 8 2 1 1 ..

Bank Officer: F 2 1 1 ..

Me: No. 8 2 ..

Bank Officer: F 2 ..

Me: Not F! Eightttttt! Ayeetttteeee twoooo wyannnnn wyannn..

Bank Officer: F? H? F or H sir?

Me (kinda annoyed now): Hmm, you asked for my IC number, right?

Bank Officer: Yes.

Me: What kind of IC Number that starts with F or H?

Bank Officer: …..

Bank Officer: Sorry sir. Please repeat again..

Me: 8 2 1 1 ..

Bank: 8 2 1 1 ..

ps: My Engrish pronounciation must be damn foreign that 8 sounds like F or H. But I did stress that ‘t’ ending like any good English teacher would tell you to do. Eightttttttt!! *sweats*

pss: I forgot my credit card number because I no longer have the card with me. I normally keep the all the numbers (credit cards, bank accounts) in my mobile phone, but I reformatted it that day, so I lost all the numbers. Stupid me not writing those down before I reformatted my mobile phone. *whack head*

pss: A friend told me that I should play along. F. U. C. K. Y. O. U.

    two possibilities that could coincide:
    1. the CSO is a foreigner
    2. the call centre is in a foreign country (which is typical to protect so-called customer’s confidential data – wtf)
