Election 2008 : PKR vs DAP (Updated) & Zam The Clown : Internet Used Mainly to Book Budget Airline Tickets??

This is a follow up post from the previous post here.

Damn it! I was reading Malaysiakini just now and it is pretty sure PKR and DAP will do with 3-cornered fights this coming election in Sarawak. Let me quote :

“Opposition PKR and DAP look almost certain to head for three-cornered fights in at least four of the seven Chinese-majority parliamentary seats in Sarawak if last-minute negotiations should fail. “

Dumb opposition! Yet they say they want us to help them to deny BN a 2/3 majority. Deny my ass if you leave us with this option. Arghh!!!!!!!!!

I got an interesting news for you guys, especially for my friends that blog and use the internet on a frequent basis. Zam the Clown has this to say to you. Note the bold statement :

“MALAYSIA’s Information Minister Zainuddin Mydin has said that the government will not be affected by blogs and other Internet forums that may be created during campaigning for the upcoming elections.

Mr Zainuddin insisted that while the younger generation are tech-savvy, they tend to believe newspaper reports over comments made on the Internet, China Press reported.

He added that the Internet is used mainly to book budget airline tickets or to get entertainment news.

He claimed that he is not worried that blogs and forums critical of the incumbent Barisan Nasional coalition would affect its chances of winning the election.

Since independence in 1957, the multi-ethnic coalition has won every election.

He stressed that young Malaysians would not turn to the Internet for political news.

He said: ‘My children are young professionals and enjoy surfing the Internet. But they don’t read blogs.’

Mr Zainuddin pointed out that Malaysians are a mature lot and would rather give more credibility to newspaper reports than the ‘gossipy news’ on the Internet.

He said that while Malaysia respects press freedom and the right of expression, these liberties are not absolute and must be exercised responsibly.

Mr Zainuddin alluded to how sensitive press reports fanned the Sino-Malay racial riots in May 1969. “

So, what you use the internet for? To check out Edison Chen sex scandal photos? Or to book Air Asia tickets? To check out gossip news?

by that zam’s logic, no wonder our broadband penetration is not very encouraging as internet dial-up connection is good enough to book budget airlines and checking the entertainment news…. poor TMnet…. stabbed by zam….

–> that logic came from an ‘Information Minister’ mouth. Malaysian should be proud to have him. Zam the Clown! thanks for dropping by this blog and leaving a comment.

Zam allow me to say something, DAP are too arrogant, their state leader and their YBs are not sincere in the seat nego. until now PKR is still trying their best to ask for only one seat in the chinese majority area that is stampin out of 7 in sarawak. but DAP is not going to let go any of that. therefore PKR have no choice that to announce to contest in all the seat..despite of the St. Martin school issue, DAP knowing that they are in disadvantage, but they still insist on the seat, sometime i just wonder if DAP present in Sarawak to help the BN or for the public who sick of the BN government.

–> zam? you mean ‘bongkersz’? well, that’s not what i heard man, pkr wants all the seats in lanang, miri, sarikei, kuching. i have the same feeling, the opposition is there to help the public, or to help BN. their actions suggest the later. thanks for dropping by dude 🙂

Freedom : i think u should go back to the state liaison head to get further clarification. if today’s published press conference in the daily papers are any indication, he has sidelined and effectively marginalised and put off large blocks of voters all over the state including those not in the seats under contention. ‘tepuk dada tanya sendiri’ I say to him. U didnt make the decision. However I understand your sentiments.

–> agreed. their ego is bigger than their brain. thanks for dropping by benjie!

huh? really now? oh well, we know better. anyway, in my opinion, and maybe this is also from those young-tech-savvy-people too, in this virtual world, where informations, good or bad, are just at the touch of a key, blogs/discussions through the internet is the most influential source of info. And this is not limited to just the young ones, adults/older people also shared their views and feelings online. And to me, this from-the-heart words are a lot more believable than the impersonal (or one-sided) views in the papers.

Oh well, it’s just my view anyway. Hehe.. Lets just wait n see, alright?

    =)

–> you know what rina? i think you are more qualified to be our Information Minister than him.
