Greeting from Lahad Datu!
Sorry for the short absence from this blog. When was the last blog post? November 13th lol! Today is November 26th, so almost 2 weeks without any blog post. What a lazy brooger!!
I’ve been busy (ehem this time it is for real) adjusting my life in Lahad Datu for past one week. Just came here last week and been busy since. Taking over people’s job halfway is not fun at all.

Scratching my head figuring out the reports, calculations and what not, people on top chasing you to produce something when you have yet to warm the seat you’re given, and to top that need to hear complaints and gossips of what happened when I was not here from the subordinates. Managing people is the number one pain in the ass job.
People don’t like to be managed. We’re always some sort of rebels at heart, launching perpetual wars against this world with some self serving causes only our own self can identify with. Probably that explains the messes this world is in, the never ending conflicts among humans, the slow and painful destruction of this pretty world with our disastrous way of life. (Shit did I sound normal?)
Lahad Datu is truly a cowboy town. Among the things you’ll notice when you set foot to this little town are:

1. 4WD vehicles zooming here and there. I think maybe out of 10 vehicles on the road, 8 of them are 4WD vehicles.

2. There are many car wash centres. Business is good, thanks to the dirty road and probably the nature of works these vehicle owners are involved with. Most are working at the plantations, construction sites, factories, shipyards and seems like there is mud everywhere. It is as if Lahad Datu is one big construction site. Cleanliness doesn’t seem to be top in the list of concerns here. Wait till I get you some photos at the fish and chicken market next time. Ehe!

‘Rainforest’ of palm oil trees
3. Food is a bit expensive for a relatively quiet and small town. 3 persons, breakfast with milo, tea, coffee and two plates of fried mee = RM15. A plate of fried mee will cost you RM5. ‘Economy’ rice will cost you between RM5-Rm8.
Let’s see if I can compile a ‘10 things about Lahad Datu’ you should know list for my blog eh? I had the chance to make a short trip down Tawau last Sunday to check out awesome town. the chicks. I heard the chicks down there are worth checking out. Amber Chia is from Tawau. I was hoping to see chicks with juicy, plump lips like her (but hopefully not talking Engrish like her)

Met up with a uni friend, went around the town and bought some local snacks. Got this ‘ Keropok Amplang’ – ball shaped crackers made from mackerel and shrimp fillet at Tawau main market.

Hmm, it does look like some funny pills…

Crispeeeeyyhhh! Nom nom nom..
Spent one afternoon in Tawau then came back to Lahad Datu. 1-2 hours drive, depends on how awesome you’re on the road. Driving around this part of the world is quite ’scary’.
Life here is seriously boring. After work, stay at home reading books, listening to the radio and online from my mobile. Facebooking and Tweeting lah, what else? Internet connection at my place sucks.
Er, that’s another reason I don’t blog
Well, at work surely I cannot blog when I have things to attend to. (tee hee hee..) I can’t even online properly from my mobile using Celcom Broadband, what more to try on the netbook. Boo!! I can only online using DiGi, although slow but at least consistent. And surfing using mobile, it’s considerably fast.
For the past week, I slept before 11pm, woke up around 6am. That’s a sign I am getting old. Ask Suituapui what time he sleeps? *chuckles* I guess that’s it for now. Till the next boring update~!
ps: Am going to celebrate my 27th birthday here in Lahad Datu. -.-|||

Compulsory day off for maids
By ZALINAH NOORDIN
KUALA LUMPUR: The Government has agreed to make it compulsory for employers to give a day off a week for their maids.
Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam said: “The ministry will make it mandatory for all domestic helpers to sign the contract of employment containing provisions like salary, the name of employers, their workplaces and the compulsory one day off a week.”
(Source: The Star)
Yes you heard it right! Finally, our caring government has decided to make it compulsory for employers to give a day off a week for their maids. Something to rejoice? Perhaps not.
What it’s like working as a maid in Malaysia? Generally, maids in Malaysia needs to work 7 days a week, hardly get any day off, low pay (actually I think the agencies ripped both the empoyers and the maids off and make the most money out of this) Worst if they work with fussy employers and need to perform all sort of task from cleaning the house, taking care of the kids, sending and picking them from school, cooking food, washing cars, doing laundry, watering gardens, cleaning shits, walking the dog, taking care of the geriatrics you-name-the-work etc.
Maids working in Malaysia = Superwomen or Wonderwomen. These foreign maids choose to work her despite the low salary because it’s nearer to their hometown, common and very much similar environment – weather, food, language etc..
I once saw a maid with a family in a shopping mall, buying groceries. The poor maid was carrying the daughter on one hand, and pushing a trolly packed to the brim using another hand. A boy was tugging closely to her, must be the couple’s son. The couple walked in front carrying nothing, lenggang-lenggang kangkung. (strolling freely with willy hanging out ok-i-don’t-know-why-i-type-this-haha)
Another time, I was eating at this one food court, I saw this one family eating and the maid was sitting on another table, eating alone. No, the family’s table was not fully seated. WTF? She looked so lonely and sad sitting alone, chewing her food.
So, it’s not surprising and downright shocking for me to read about the employers prostesting against this move. It is one thing to read about how inconsiderate for these people to think ‘a day off in a week’ is something ‘lavish’ or should not be granted to their workers and it is another to read the excuses given by them. I was dumbfounded and I must say it is kinda disgusting to read the excuses/reasons given by some of these retarded sadists, for I can’t imagine such inconsiderate nincompoop-moron-dungu-idiots living among us.
She is apprehensive that the day off would be used by the maid to get involved in “unhealthy activities.
Oh? They get a day off and they would use this ‘great chance’ to do nothing but to get involved in ‘unhealthy activities’? This is the lamest excuse I ever heard. After working their asses off like donkeys (sorry donkey) for 6 days straight, they sure can’t wait to get involved in ‘unhealthy activities’ heh! So, if they don’t work as maid, then they must be plotting something evil like robbing banks, rempit-ing or killing orphans then?
“I don’t mean to discriminate but from past stories, we’ve all heard about how maids have gone missing after a week of working.”
We’ve all heard also how employers treat some maids inhumanely, worst than treating a dog prior to them gone missing, after a week of working. If anything, most of the maids ‘run away’ because of better offers from other places. (forget that part about them getting cheated, for a while) These employers must be scared of their maids getting or hearing some good ‘lubang‘ (opportunities) from other maids.
“Imagine if all the 300,000 foreign maids are given the same day off, then places like shopping malls will be teeming with these people!”
Damn! No wonder the shopping malls are full during the weekend! It is because most Malaysians work only 5 days a week and would be free during the weekend! Malaysia is so small, now with so many people not working during the weekend, especially when 300,000 foreign maids getting a day off, everywhere must be packed with people! How scary! Waaaaaaaaa! And, listen to the tone this idiot used to describe the foreign maids – ‘these people!’
Malaysians are hypocrites a lot. Not only the politicians. They want the best for themselves like working only 5 days a week, shorter working hours, minimum wage. high paying jobs, handsome perks and all the good shits, but when the foreign workers ask something as reasonable as ‘a day off’ in a week, they would say it’s unfair, not a wise move or downright no and offer some stupid justifications.
Hypocrites. I hate hypocrites. *crush them like cockraches* *stamp stamp*
ps: Ranting post on Friday night. That’s new.
pss: I wanted to write something along the line ‘Umno is in a hurry to sodomise Pas and Muhyiddin is a snake’ but I guess that needs to wait.

My line of work requires me to deal with the authorities quite often as I need to chase for approvals, submission status..’angkat angkat’ the fella.. make him/her happy (perform strip dance if forced to haha!
) When we have few projects running, I’ll need to call them up. Typical conversations with them will be:
Scenario One :
Me : Hello, Selamat pagi, boleh sambungkan saya ke bahagian xxxx?
Operator : Encik tunggu sebentar..
Me : Ok.
En. A : Hello, Bahagian xxxx.
Me : Ya, selamat pagi encik, boleh saya bercakap dengan Tn. B?
En. A : Tunggu sebentar saya sambungkan.
Me : Ok. (waiting)
tut tut.. tut tut… tut tut tut tut tut tut… (the line goes off)
Me : Ma chee bye…
Scenario Two:
Early in the morning, about 8.30 like that..
Me : Hello, selamat pagi. Saya call dari perunding X, nak check status kelulusan pelan untuk projek tetuan Y, Pn. D ada?
Pn. Z : Pn. D belum masuk lagi. Telefon balik nanti.
Me : Ok. Terima kasih
30 mins later,
Me : Hello, boleh saya bercakap dengan Pn. D?
Pn. H : Pn. D keluar sarapan. Baru je keluar
Me : Tak apa, saya call balik nanti.
Another 15 mins
Me : Hello, Boleh saya bercakap dengan Pn. D?
Pn. C : Pn. D sudah keluar inspection encik.
Me : …. Er, Ada contact no. dia tak? Handphone no?
Pn. C : Maaf encik. Kita tak ada. Encik boleh hubungi dia di talian ext. XXX
Me : Saya dah cuba call dia banyak kali, ada pegawai lain yang saya boleh refer?
Pn. C : Tak ada encik. Memang Pn. D saja jaga kawasan ni.
Me : Tak apa lah, saya telefon balik nanti.
Afternoon, after lunch,
Me : Hello, Pn. D ada?
En. K : Pn. D mc hari ni. Boleh telefon balik esok?
Me : cheebuy..! $#_$(X^^)_~!(*&)(0-!~
Yeah, it is damn frustrating trying to get hold of the officers. And they are farking outdated species which doesn’t own a mobile phone? (not that I believe that, but when I asked, they never want to give their number, so I have no choice but to call the office line) Many times, after trying the whole day, I couldn’t reach the officer, and the next day I called, the officer on leave, for 2 weeks. Pfftttt…. And nobody take over her work/file. The typical response will be ‘Saya tak tahu… (Our PM always use this line…to the fullest) Encik kena tunggu dia balik.. And the client was chasing my butt off for his project status..

Remember I blogged about my previous accident? I was knocked by this girl driving Waja, about a year ago? Yeah, I involved in an accident again
This time ’upgraded’ my ‘accident policy’ - knocked by a lorry
This happened last Wednesday (30/08/2006) morning. I was riding my motorbike back from Bukit Jelutong after collecting submission drawings and letter from Fire Rescue Department. It started to rain as I came out from the department and getting heavier. So I decided to stop somewhere to take shelter from the rain.
I saw a bus stop on the other side of the road so I decided to make a U-turn at the traffic light in front. Looking in my side mirror, saw a lorry about 7-8 metres behind me, so I signalled to the right. Halfway in the middle of the road… heard the brake sound SCREEEEKKKK!!!! and BAM!!! Oh my god!! The lorry knocked me!! (Stunned for a while.. at that very moment, cheebuy, I am going to die langgar by lorry..I thought)
And I fall down, one leg pinned under my bike. And I realised I was safe! Tak mati lagi!
Just minor scratches on my arms and quite nasty wounds on my left leg – knee part. My motorbike a bit in bad shape, the front rim twisted a bit to the side, the side mirror, left and back signal lights broken, scratches on the cover. The drawings and letter, covered in plastic bag fall on the road.
The 1st thing I did - ask for a new plastic bag from the lorry driver lol… lol.. The lorry was on his way to send market I guess, saw lots of vegetables at the back of the lorry. Talked a while with the driver and his partner, bla bla.. he will pay for the repair and medical fees. (I did feel a bit guilty, it’s not entirely his fault, it was raining and I thought I could move to the other right side of the road in time, but no. Lucky that he braked and hit me not that hard, if not I’m not writing this now
)
Then he drove away and I took shelter at the bus stop. Made some calls to the office, told my boss I took leave for the day. (He kinda shocked heard that I was knocked by a lorry. Sorry boss, I’ll be extra careful after this). After the rain stopped, rode my bike back to my condo, took a shower then walked to a clinic nearby. (Luckily that my bike still work, if not…
pushed all the way back?? crazy shiet..) And today sent the bike for repair, cost me RM 137

pic – me on the right side of the road moving to the traffic light, lorry behind

Pic – Bam!! Kena hit by lorry
So the lesson is never take chance with your life. Luck is not always on your side. Pesanan oleh Kementerian Pengangkutan Dan Jalan. Cheers guy! Drive safely!
