Sarawak’s Rainforest World Music Festival 2008!!

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 87 views

It was a MUD FEST at Sarawak’s Rainforest World Music Festival!!

This is how the ground look like after the rain..

Yes.. because it was raining the first night, the stage area end up like a mud pool. I heard rumours this one fella jinx the festival, next time please do not invite him.. - note to organizer. Those who went for the festival, you guys know who I am referring to :P Some more reduced the allocation for this year edition.

However, the Tourism Ministry has dramatically reduced the funding for Sarawak’s Rainforest World Music Festival, to RM70,000 from RM500,000 last year.

What was more disappointing, was that the World Music Festival organised in Penang received RM1.7 million last year and RM1.65 million this year.

Hey!! That’s not fair!! Give more fund so we can have better ground to stand. There was like 4 inches of mud pool, it stinks to heaven, you probably think you are partying in a pig sty. The organizer put some sand and wooden saw crumbs but it was not helping. The ground smell like horses.

Mud spa anyone? It’s free and aromatic.

Ok bitching aside.. I had so much fun at Sarawak Cultural Village, where the event was held. What fun? I get to meet a hell lot of people as watched many awesome artists from all over the world performing. I finally had the chance to meet Melbie, Man-D and Ladybird. I also met Mar, Lola and Goolooloo, Charyelle and her bodyguard there.

I saw Kenny Sia with Pink Pau aka Su Ann, at one point they were just standing in front of me.. but no I didn’t take photo with them. I was shy. Nyahahahaha! Some of the ‘famous’ people I saw at the festival - DJ Dominic from Channel V, Jehan Miskin, Manomaniam from Kopitiam, Alex Yoong, Marion… Yeah, I know them but they don’t know me. Haha! Then I met with some Facebook friends - Durvan, Anansa and make a hell lot of new friends - Rowena, Jackson, Vellu, Chitra, Fiza, Raha and many names I cannot remember. Blame it on the excessive elixir of life I had :P

Oh, Noktah Hitam, I saw Iqhbal there. First thing he mentioned to me when he saw me was ‘&!*@*… tits…#(#&&!@’ (I wasn’t paying attention until he mentioned the magic word..) The rest of our conversation I shall censor it for the good of innocent minds reading this blog. :D

Wait, before I unleash the photos.. Cibol farker, I met you for like what?? 10 seconds? At the entrance, took photos, then poofs! Gone! I saw him again at the workshop but he’s ‘busy’ :P He did sms me few times to report his ‘meeting’ with famous people LOL! I tried to call him when Pat, Navsta and Mar wanted to take group photos but Cibol was already in the bus hahaha! No wonder Melbie and Man-D complaining about not seeing you. Man-D never get the chance to see you.. I heard. Siaplah you kena sapu from them :P

Bring on the photos!

What?! Must show own face first lah :D Reached there around 3-4pm, Saturday.

Went there with 3 Dara Pingitan. Read Gila-gila anyone?

A group of dancers performing at Celcom’s booth.

Walked around the place. Beautiful lake, lush forest and breathtaking Mount Santubong

The green sanctuary.. the elixir of life :P

Oh a very nicely decorated long house!!

They made it into a bar!!

The Food Bazaar. They have everything under the sun. CoffeeBean, Heineken Beer, Thai food, Arabic food, Fried Mee, Fried Rice, Fried Kuey Teow, BBQ chicken, hot dogs, vegetarian food, satay, Kolo Mee - yes anything. Get your food fix here.

When your stomach or bladder is full, do your business here

One of the many workhops - visitors got personal music and instrument lessons from the performers directly.

Another workshop

The VIPs tent. I say, forget the formalities.. it’s a festival!!

The stage and the ground, before it turned into a mud wrestling ring.

Getting ready for the show

Everyone still warming up to the music

Getting there..

A little bit more..

It went wild!

Beltaine from Poland. Awesome group, I especially love the guitarist.

Adel Salameh from Palestine. Too subtle for the wild crowd.

Tuku Kame from Sarawak!!

Crowd’s favourite - One man show Hiroshi Motofuji. He plays the Japanese traditional Taiko drums.

Another very talented band, The Ross Daly Quartet but they also put the wild crowd to sleep.

Another band..

More!

Yes, I googled this :P Anak Adi Rurum - Sarawak’s very own.

Saw Lola and Mar. I also took photos with Melbie, Ladybird and Man-D but they are shy to show their faces… let’s hope they put up some photos at their blogs :)

Mary aka Goolooloo also there

A friend with his tuak, grinning because he’s captured on camera with a smoking bunny..

Bunch of new friends I met at RWMF 2008

Helping Heineken with the publicity. Ignore that Stella Artois can above me.. :P

Meeting with Pat and Navsta from Traxx FM, Mar

Then the photos taken on the finale night :P  Sunday, July 13th 2008

New Rope String band from United Kingdom- funny three dudes.. was laughing like crazy watching them perform. Very talented.

Orchestra Anak Jati Bisaya, Sarawak. I was yawning through the their show

Then I get some boost up.

My arm started to move on its own!!

Then it started to rain again!!!

I shed off my shirt… oh, sorry no photos for that hahahahaha! :P I shall not pollute this blog with that photo of mine hehehe..

The finale - Kasai Masai showing his butt gyrating move for the last time

Pinikpikan from the Philippines

Thanks to the organiser. Ben Jimbau the chairman raising his hands.

Last shot of the festival!

That’s it. I guess there will be more photos from the rest of the bloggers that went for the event, so let them show you what they got. Sorry Suituapui, no photos of sexy chicks and gorgeous hunks. Sexy chicks photos only for my eyes only.. and gorgeous hunks photos are not allowed on this blog.

ps: I have more photos on Facebook :P Go check it out there!

pss: Thanks Anansa, for some of the photos

Oh Chor Mee @ Lau Ya Keng

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008 22 views

Last Sunday, I had a ‘makan’ session with some friends at Lau Ya Keng Food Court, Carpenter Street.

Lau Ya Keng Food Court is located opposite a Chinese temple along Carpenter Street . It is very easy to find, smack in the middle of Kuching city centre. A simple food court that has been around for decades and is very popular with locals - breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Chinese Temple opposite Lau Ya Keng

Since I am still considered as a noob in Kuching, a lady friend ordered for us. She was from Kuching, now residing in Petaling Jaya and was in Kuching here for leisure. Another friend with his partner from Penang - they were here for the Rainforest World Music Festival also joined us for the ‘makan’ session. We had Oh Chor Mee and Dry ‘Kiaw’.

Dry ‘Kiaw’/'Pien Neek’/Wantan/Wanton/Wuntun

Kuching people called it ‘kiaw’ (Hokkien dialect) and if you go to Sibu or Sarikei they called it ‘Pien Neek’ (Foochow dialect) and in Peninsular, they just called it ‘wantan’ (Cantonese dialect). In Itali, they called it ‘ravioli’. Ok I bluff you on the Italian part :P You can have the wantan dry or with soup. I don’t think they serve it dry in Peninsular, they only have fried and soup wantan. Probably it is because, from what I noticed that, in Sarawak you get a generous meat filling for the wantan but in Peninsular they are pretty kiam-siap (stingy) so most of the time you end up having just the skin/wrappers-made from fresh dough with insignificant meat filling. Imagine a bowl of ‘dry wantan’ where you just eat the wrappers. Ughh…

Oh Chor Mee - Chinese Black Vinegar Mee.

It is basically Kolo Mee added with Chinese black vinegar according to my friend.  I first thought it is just another Kolo Mee with extra ingredients. (Special Kolo Mee) The taste?? Awesome!! The vinegar gave the mee some extra flavor and aroma - slightly sweet and sourish, add that to the saltiness and sweetness of the Kolo Mee, it is a make-match made in heaven. :P Go satisfy your craving now!!

I kissed a girl…. not :P

Friday, June 20th, 2008 83 views

It is Friday!!!

It is been a week since I landed in Kuching :D I am adjusting to the peaceful, quiet life in Kuching. Nothing to complain so far. Food is good. Traffic is fine. No, I do not miss the traffic jam in Klang Valley, Angeles. Thanks for the MMS anyway :P (Hey! Don’t take photo while driving!!) Air is fresh. I can sleep well at night without hearing Mat Rempits Cemerlangs revving their Kapchais or Ah Bengs blasting their ‘Tits Tet-No’ music.. and in the morning I can wake up at peace without stupid cars honking at each other like it will make the cars in front of them go faster. Kuching girls? No time to check it out yet. Cibol said, no photo no talk, so I normally keep the photos to myself… so no need talk lah about girls. Nyahahahahahaha!!

Wait, just one thing, I need to get it out from my system. My workplace’s canteen is simply a kitchen from hell!!!!s simply a kitchen from hell!!! Poorly cooked food, with ridiculous pricing. Imagine my horror on my 1st day when the cashier said RM6.80 for my ‘economy rice’ - rice, curry chicken and ladies’ fingers. WTF? I asked her again, probably my hearing got problem after the flight from previous day. “Henam hinggit lapan.” (Six ringgit eighty).

Hey! I paid much cheaper price when I was in Phileo Damansara and the place supposed to be among the places that charge slightly higher than other places in KL!!! Now in Kuching??? RM6.80 for ‘economy rice?’ Very economic indeed. Crap. Well, I paid RM6.80 for a tasteless curry chicken and overcooked rice. :vangry: I just found out, there are not many choices of food served and if you go to the canteen for lunch slightly later than 12.45pm you need to scrap whatever leftover there and there is only one operator there. Monopoly. Never good for consumers.

On the 1st day I went for lunch at 1pm, so nothing to complain, only the sorry looking chicken curry and ladies fingers left but the next day I went there…. Well, not worth to mention. I am getting food from outside since then and planning to pack from home. The canteen has a long list of menu but when you want to order this particular item, you get the answer “Takda” (Not available). Hoi! Please do not put it in the menu lah if you are not serving it! Doesn’t it annoy you to the max when you are given the menu and when you order your food, this doesn’t have, that is not available.. bla bla??

Eh, sorry.. Friday supposed to be a happy merry sissy sexy post but end up writing 3 paragraph dissing the poor canteen. Hmm.. Friday’s night in Kuching.. do what? Any suggestion? Go fishing at the waterfront? Better stay home, change lifestyle.

I saw this song on TV just now. Damn cheesy.. pretty gay also. STP sure like. Have a great Friday and horny crazy weekends people!

ps: Gotcha with the post title!!

Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl

This was never the way I planned
Not my intention
I got so brave, drink in hand
Lost my discretion
It’s not what, I’m used to
Just wanna try you on
I’m curious for you
Caught my attentionI kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chap stick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don’t mean I’m in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it

No, I don’t even know your name
It doesn’t matter
You’re my experimental game
Just human nature
It’s not what, good girls do
Not how they should behave
My head gets so confused
Hard to obey

I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chap stick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don’t mean I’m in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it

Us girls we are so magical
Soft skin, red lips, so kissable
Hard to resist so touchable
Too good to deny it
Ain’t no big deal, it’s innocent

I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chap stick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don’t mean I’m in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it

Back in the Land of Hornbills!

Sunday, June 15th, 2008 6 views

Tired..

For the last few days.. busy sorting my stuffs to be packed.

The war zone..

I thought I could pack all this in just 2 bags.. how wrong haha!

End up getting a big-ass bag. Easily can stuff STP in.

Off I go!

At the ’ketupat’ hall  :D

I reached Kuching around 12pm yesterday.. went to Holiday Inn to check in. My nose was killing me. I was having a bit of flu.. keep sneezing on the plane, damn embarassing. I am allergic to dust.. was sneezing all the time while packing my luggage already :P On the plane, I couldn’t control the flowing of mucus from my nose either, the thing just ‘free flow’ from my left nostril nyahahahahahha! End up stuffing my nostrils with tissues  I contemplated to take some photos.. but decided to spare you good people from those disgusting photos :p Some obligatory photos to be taken as someone who has a blog before I went to take my nap :D

Then I went to sleep.. I even missed the match between Spain and Sweden  So I woke up this morning, rewarded myself with a plate of oily, tasty KOLO MEE! :D :D :D
