I received a DM from Mr. Josh Lim, the boss for Advertlets last Wednesday.

I was in the ‘jungle’ near Bakun and the mobile coverage was really bad but I called him up anyway. First time talking to the man. Excerpt of our painfully transmitted over the sucky mobile coverage went something like this..
Me: “Hello, Josh? Bong here.”
Josh: “Who?”
Me: “Bongkersz.”
Josh: “Oh, yes. Bongkersz. Bong Chan Siong.”
LOL! No need for the full name man! I lost count how many times we asked each other “Hello… can you hear me?” or repeated “Yes I can hear you fine.” during the short conversation. HAHA!
He asked me whether I would be available in Kuching on Friday night for a project. I told him maybe, because I wasn’t sure I would be back on Friday. Anyway he said he would provide me with the details the next day. I was invited to partay Xpax Xplay Party at Paragon, Travillion, Kuching!

I wasn’t overly excited at that time because I wasn’t sure I would be back in Kuching on Friday night.
Then on Friday morning, I have decided to go on a road trip with my colleague, driving back from Simpang Bakun to Kuching. He dropped me at Betong around 4pm and I then continued driving to Kuching with @Emi_Mel. We started around 5.30pm and reached Kuching around 8.30pm and we were ready to partay!! *chanting* Partay people partay people partay people….

Checking with Mr. Josh if I am already in the list.. (click image for full size)
We went to Paragon, Travillion around 10pm and I was surprised that my name was not in the list. I asked them to double, triple check and showed them the tweets from Josh but they still couldn’t find my name. To cut the story short, I managed to get in the club after contacting Josh on phone and he directed me to a lady called Rosemary. But, too bad I didn’t get the ‘VIP tag’ and thus had no access to the ‘VIPs area’ and of course, no free flow drinks for me…

The VIP tag, cheekily named ‘VXP’. This is Fahriee’s tag… (photo stolen from him as well)

I managed to sneak up to the VIPs area for a while and stole a shot with my Crackberreh!
Anyway I had so much fun at the party. DJ Monkey and DJ Funkzu iz teh shitz! Love the beats churned out by the both DJs, really nothing short of awesomeness. I kinda ‘duh!’ when some club Djs playing the same old shits, repetitively cos I rather listen to the radio for that. Keyword here is ‘repetitively’.

This is DJ Monkey. Nice inks man! (photo stolen from Fahriee again)
There were other performances as well, by Soul Higher and Shawn Lee.

Sorry for the poor quality picture hahaha!

Shawn Lee the beatbox machine! Fahriee was not doing him justice when he’s busy tweeting there lol…. or was he tweeting about how awesome Shawn Lee was? Hmm… I recorded the part where Shawn Lee was beatboxing but the sound quality is so crappy for me to put it up. Sigh. One word for Shawn Lee, madness!

Put your hands up in the air partay people! (photo stolen from Xpax’s FB Page)

With Fahriee and Rosemary. (photo stolen from Fahriee)

Huarghhhh! (photo stolen from Fahriee)
Kuching definitely need more of such event to cater for the crazy party revelers here. Looking forward for the upcoming edition of Xpax Xplay party! (They were partying at Opera, Sunway on Saturday night and from the photos.. damn it sure looked like a blast!)
ps: A short hiatus from this blog (last post was a month and a half back…) and the first post after the break is about partying..
Now, Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) is just around the corner…
pss: I no longer look pink after few sips of alcoholic beverages because I am few shades darker after many days slaving in the jungle..
psss: I think the tagline “..when blogging is a constipated affair.” fits this blog real nice now…

Let me share a little story of what happened to a young lady driver recently. She had a traumatic encounter with a ‘man in blue uniform‘ and she wrote about the incident on Facebook. I saw the video and after reading the short note accompanying the video, I messaged her asking for more details of what happened, which she kindly replied. This is her recount of what happened that day – :
I was using Middle Ring road and take the exit at USJ. While turning to Taipan, I already see this policeman were tailing me left and right. We stopped at the traffic light before the housing area before the mosque. I have my safety belt buckled, my handsfree are hooked on my cell. I am all obeying the traffic law. So I wasn’t paying much attention to him. There were many other cars stopped at the same traffic light as usual. When the traffic light turned green, he slow down to my driver window and signal me to pull my car aside.
I was surprised when he signal me to pull my car into the neighbourhood where there’s no car turning in or out from. It is unusual that a policeman will do that. I get suspicious for his intention. I wind down my window just enough for conversation but he can’t put his hands in. I asked did I did anything wrong. He said nothing, he was just checking. (at this time he already was staring inside my car, and I saw his eyes watching at my legs (where my cell lay), I was wearing a knee-length tight skirt with a small open-cut at my left leg) Suspiciously I hand my license for him. But he requested my ID. (while he was staring at my road tax, which nothing was wrong) I gave him my ID.
Then, he told me to come down from my car as he wants to check my car boot. I had this very bad feeling and I started panic. After he checked my car boot and couldn’t find anything. I requested my ID and license back. I demand to write down his batch ID and his name. I explained that I have the right to write down his ID and check with the police station if he is a real police. He got offended and said that he is on his uniform, it showed that he is a REAL police. I look at him with doubt and he started to get offensive. He requested my ID and license again and I keep a distant from him and starting to take video from my cell (which is the clip you see now).
During the conversation, he kept saying that he did nothing wrong and he has the authority to stop any car he think is suspicious and perform a check. BUT, if he is performing his duty, why should him pick a single lady driver and pull her car at such a quiet neighbourhood? I never experienced a traffic police requested a lady to step down from her car and wanted to check her car bonnet. I never see any traffic police stop a lady and do these even along roadside. I’ve got panicked.
(That was the whole of the video shown)
During the conversation, he said that I am rude and he can lock me up if he wants to. He also threatened me that he can write down my car plate number and pull my car any time. I repeated my thought and tell him that I was performing my RIGHT and he should have shown me his batch before all these happened. (but I doubt that I could recognize a real batch)
I guess he saw that I was taking video and after the conversation he ride on his bike and get off.
That is the end.
Is it just me alone that think our men in blue should be more polite and courteous when dealing with civilians? After all, we are the taxpayers and we do pay their salary. In the video above, apart from learning how to properly address a civilian in his official capacity, the policeman should learn how to talk to a lady as well. Now, do we want angry people taking care of our safety? Well, I guess it is of no surprise that some of policemen behaviours are reflections of how their superiors actually do. You know, leading by example. I am referring to this.
What was he doing, walking around shouting, screaming his head off like there’s no tomorrow? It’s more like the acts of a kid losing his temper over something stupid. What an embarassment. If this is how he treats normal citizens, I don’t want to think what will be the fate of the criminals in his hands.

This year I am going to write a summary of my year, taking a cue from michaelooi.net because I think it is a good way to gauge where you stand at the end of the year. It is time to being reflective and look back at what we have accomplished (and not) for the year. I am intended to do this every year in the future starting from this post.

Resolutions are meant to be broken, that’s what pessimists some people say, but by having a list of ‘things to do’ and ‘marking yourself’ when the time comes, you’ll be able to benchmark yourself, against your previous self. Kinda stupid, no? But stupid things we love do, every now and then.
If you are able to plot your life on a graph, you’ll see if you are sinking fast to the bottom, maintaining a straight line, or for the best – going uphill. But, why many of us wait to reflect on our life only at the end of every year? We should do it every second, minute, and day or at every opportunity that we have. Looking back and retrace your steps, the act does wonders.
So, year 2008. How has it been for me? Fantastic? Mundane? Alright? So so? I guess it was not a bad year, compared to the year before (2007). I didn’t write any resolution for 2008, but I did in 2007.
2007, I was in a mess. By the end of the year, I still grappling with my life, so I decided to put everything on track in 2008 – the reason I didn’t write any resolution coming into 2008. I never wrapped up those resolutions I made in 2007, so perhaps it’s due time to have a peek and see how badly I fared?

One of the very few columnists that I like in The Star is Huzir Sulaiman. This guy has good sense of humor and I enjoyed reading his articles in his regular column ‘Wide Angle’. Who is Huzir Sulaiman you ask?
Huzir Sulaiman (born in 1973) is a Malaysian actor, director and writer. One of Malaysia’s leading dramatists, acclaimed for his vibrant, inventive use of language and incisive insight into human behavior in general and the Asian psyche in particular. His plays, often charged with dark humor, political satire, and surrealistic twists, have won numerous awards and international recognition. He currently lives in Singapore.

Now, if you are wondering what happened to his missing article yesterday in his regular Sunday column has got to, well it has been spiked. The article that he wrote was deemed ‘too sensitive’ for the ‘politically correct’ The Star and had to be spiked.
