Augustana – Boston & Short Hiatus

Friday, May 23rd, 2008 2,862 views

Friday again..

Listening to this song from this band Augustana – Boston. What a name for a band heh? It is a song about love and being misunderstood, I guess?

Hmm, Switchfoot fans probably will love this band as well. What is this shit again? Indie Rock? Whatever.. genre tagging does not bother me. A song is a song. I quote:

All lies and jest, still, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest – Simon and Garfunkel

Augustana – Boston

In the light of the sun,
Is there anyone?
Oh it has begun.
Oh dear, you look so lost,
Eyes are red
And tears are shed,
This world you must’ve crossed.
You said,

You don’t know me,
And you don’t even care, oh yeah,
She said,
You don’t know me,
And you don’t wear my chains, oh yeah.
Yeah.

Essential yet appealed,
Carry all your thoughts
Across an open field,
When flowers gaze at you,
They’re not the only ones
Who cry when they see you
You said,

You don’t know me,
And you don’t even care, oh yeah,
She said,
You don’t know me,
And you don’t wear my chains, oh yeah.

She said I think I’ll go to Boston.
I think I’ll start a new life.
I think I’ll start it over, where no one knows my name.
I’ll get out of California, I’m tired of the weather,
I think I’ll get a lover and fly ‘em out to Spain.
I think I’ll go to Boston.
I think that I’m just tired.
I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind.
I think I need a sunrise, I’m tired of Sunset,
I hear it’s nice in the summer, some snow would be nice, oh yeah.

You don’t know me,
And you don’t even care, oh yeah,

Boston, where no one knows my name
Where no one knows my name
Where no one knows my name

Boston, where no one knows my name.

Tears..

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 2,304 views

There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief…and unspeakable love

- Washington Irving

I was in tears..

I was browsing through my inbox when I received a forwarded mail with the title: Hero. It is a Power Point slide presentation of Sichuan, China earthquake disaster, collection of photos and news. I could not control my tears from flowing out when I saw this:

This baby, after being buried over 24 hours, miraculously, was rescued unscratched. He is about 3-4 months old, and his mother knelt down, pinned her head and hands on the ground to shielded him from the falling concrete, and milked him. His mother did not make it out. A rescue worker found his mom’s cell phone in his wrapper. It had a text message left by his mother: “Dear child, if you survive, please remember, Mom loves you forever…”

I went to Google and I found more news on this. Reading the last words over and over again, I was in tears.

“My dear baby, if you can survive, remember I love you”

ps: I know I wrote somewhere before, “Love is Selfish“, now I shall eat my own words.

pss: Tears are words the heart can’t express..

psss: Here is the slide presentation – Hero

Rape Me! Because I wear a ’sexy’ school uniform..

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 17,587 views

I am extremely furious reading this piece of shit today.

School uniform sexy, says group

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian group condemned the uniform worn by girls at government schools, saying it encouraged rape and pre-marital sex.

“The white blouse is too transparent for girls and it becomes a source of attraction,” National Islamic Students Association of Malaysia vice-president Munirah Bahari said in a statement.

“It becomes a distraction to men, who are drawn to it, whether or not they like looking at it,” she said, calling for a review of uniform policy so that it did not violate Islamic ideals.

In multicultural Malaysia, home to majority-Muslim Malays as well as ethnic Chinese and Indians, female students at government schools have a choice of wearing a white blouse with a knee-length skirt or pinafore.

They may also wear a “baju kurung” and a headscarf is optional for Malay students.

Munirah said that “covering up” according to Islamic precepts was important to fend off social ills, including “rape, sexual harassment and even premarital sex.”

“This leads to babies born out of wedlock and, to an extent, even prostitution,” she said.

“Decent clothes which are not revealing can prevent and protect women from any untoward situations,” she said, suggesting that girls wear a blouse of a different colour or with an undergarment.

However, the girls themselves also came in for criticism, with the association saying that some used the white blouse to lure men.

“This is the source of the problem, where we can see that schoolgirls themselves are capable of using this to attract men to them,” Munirah said.

“This could see them getting molested, having premarital sex and all sorts of things.” - AFP

What a joke! Why they always put the blame of crime on the victim? It is damn demeaning to tell the women to dress up ‘properly’ to fend off ‘social ills’ and it is more insulting to suggest that men will screw anything that is remotely less ‘covered up’.

We had clad up, tudung girl raped in the past. Remember Noor Suzaily Mokhtar? She was wearing burqah/hijab for god’s sake at that time of unfortunate incident!! How a woman covered up from head to toe supposedly ‘prevent her from any untoward incidents’ now? Tell me.

Then let me ask, how does little girls, some yet to reach puberty became victims of rape? How these little girls can be a sexual desire for men? Remember 10 years old Nurul Huda Ghani and Hasirawati Saridi? Remember 8 years old Ang May Hong? Remember 8 years old Nurin Jazlin Jazimin which her body was found sexually violated dumped in a bag? What about those incest cases? Hey, most of the victims of rape in Malaysia were below 15 years old!! Here, listen to it from the horse’s mouth:

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: The number of reported rape and incest cases in Malaysia has nearly doubled over the past six years, and thousands of wives are living in fear because of domestic violence, a government minister said.

“The statistics show a rising trend,” Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil told a conference on ending violence against women, according to a text of her speech seen Friday.

The number of incest cases climbed from 213 in 2000 to 332 in 2006, while reported rape cases jumped from 1,217 in 2000 to 2,341 last year, Shahrizat said at the forum Thursday.

“What is depressing is that most of the victims were below 15 years of age,” Shahrizat said. “In the incest cases … people such as the fathers, stepfathers, uncles and brothers are the victimizers, even though they should have been the ones to protect and cherish the victims.

So again, does that proves rape has anything to do with ‘decently clothed’? How ‘decently clothed’ those little girls should be?

In the first place, any individual that preys on school girls, which most of them still underage, wearing their school uniform is SICK!!! So, it has nothing to do with the girls wearing ‘too transparent white blouse’ or ‘not so decent uniform’. Period.

RAPE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH AGE, HOW YOU DRESS, WHAT YOU WEAR AND IT DEFINITELY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE VICTIM!! NOBODY SHOULD SAY SHE ASKED FOR IT, DAMN IT!

Are they even aware that they are many ‘decently clothed’ women screwing around, letting their other halves to record videos of their ‘actions’ and posted it online? There are tons of 3gp videos (most common multimedia format for clips or videos recorded using mobile) with tudung girls as the main character in it. Go ask Uncle Google type in ‘tudung 3gp’ and see for yourself. Decently clothed my backside.. again, HOW YOU DRESS UP DO NOT REFLECT YOUR CHARACTER!! A horny goat stills a horny goat when ‘it’ is decently clothed or naked. Tell a prostitute to dress up like a nun will not make her a nun. She probably gets more kinky customers. It is just a false appearance, at its best.

Pre-marital sex? What pre-marital sex has to do with choice of clothing? Aduh..!! I am so sick of these nincompoops living among us. Remember not long ago some assholes suggested the usage of chastity belts to prevent incest? No, the chastity belt is not for men to wear, it is for women, he suggested. (Hmm.. as usual, he said it was a joke went wrong after that)

The group’s suggestion is akin to that we should not drive on the roads because according to the they are many people dying on the roads so the roads are unsafe, we shall stay away?

I think everybody should have the right to do whatever they want, dress however they want anytime they want, and not be at risk- as long as they’re not hurting others. Why the heck your personal choice would be influenced by the action of others? Why should women have to dress up and down in accordance to some state enforced idea of moral decency?

The most important fact here that is missing is purely, EDUCATION! Boys grow up not knowing or understanding a simple word, RESPECT for women. Get that right!

ps: Who TF is this Munirah Bahari? Calls herself National Islamic Student Association leader. Must be some kind of freak cult leader. Meh aku bungkus kau..

pss: Quote of the day by a good friend – ‘IF clothes are the cure-all reason, everyone dah lama sembah almari”

psss: Conspiracy theory of the day by another good friend – “Obviously someone wants the contract for the school uniforms perhaps?”

pssss: Remember girls, do not wear white!

Bees, Disasters and TDM

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008 1,727 views

A long post. Skip if you are a lazy reader.

I have a lot of things running in my mind right now. I am exhausted. Tired. For the past few days I did a lot of thinking, messing with my flabby, flaccid brain. No I am not quitting this blog like NoktahHitam hahahahaha! (He’s back with vengeance anyway) Some of things are too personal; I feel it should stay that way.

Oh, something weird just happened. There were lots of bees flying outside the office. No idea where they came from and why they were here. What you think the bees were doing? I read somewhere on the internet on frogs and cockroaches ‘running away’ from the area before the earthquake happened. (Now suddenly Hoobastank’s Running Away and Crawling in the Dark are playing in my skull.. :???:) I managed to take some photos. Now imagine the bees swarming your body.. and feast on it.

Attack of the Bees!

So why are you running away?

Why are you running away?

Can’t really see.. but check out the ‘black dots..’

I’ve been crawling in the dark looking for the answer

So many things happened in this month – May. Disasters like in Myammar and Sichuan, China. Yesterday earthquakes detected in Sumatra, previous day in Sabah??! Last night I heard they experienced tremors in OUG, Puchong, Cheras areas?

We are lucky a lot. Malaysia do not have any natural disaster happening so far (yet) except for the tsunami that happened in 2004. Even then we realized that this nation is no where ready to cope with an emergency resulted from a big scale calamities. Just read on the internet how schools in China crumbling down like pieces of Lego structures because of the alleged shoddy works and sub-standard materials used for the buildings.

Being in the construction industry myself and having many friends in this field working in construction firms – some as design engineer in consultancy companies, supervisors or engineers on site for contractors companies, we get to know many things happening in the industry and I can tell you it is not very good and sometimes scary to know/hear.

I think many Malaysians should aware of the standard of works in Malaysia where it is an open secret that corruption is rampant in this industry. Things can be ’settled’, what you built on site can be tweaked to suit your pockets and gullible clueless buyers will never find out. Things are built without exactly following the specifications and drawings, the list goes on and on. I had a gathering with bunch of friends last Saturday (my coursemates) and we talked about this and from the feedbacks, Malaysians are really lucky considering our structures are not really put to test :) So the con-men can sleep soundly at night, counting the money they stolen from the people. Yes, we laughed about it. Ha! Ha! Ha! When you still can laugh about it.. why not?

Then we have political surprises like Tun Mahathir quiting Umno. Umno is going to self destruct anyway, (playing Mission Impossible self destruct message..) so we shall let them shoot themselves to death and we watch from afar. Mahathir is not the first ex-president of Umno to quit Umno. As we are all aware, Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tun Hussein Onn both died as non-Umno members. Only Tun Razak I think was still a member of Umno when he died. So, to some extent, it is quite a trend for ex-Umno presidents to quit Umno for one reason or another.

I extremely disappointed with TDM for what he said in Johor. Malaysians are sick and tired of race-based politics and we need to move on to people-based politics

Yes, many respect the old man. I respect him, personally. Then again, I think we should not be blind to what he did to this country, we paid a heavy price for the ‘developments’ he brought to Malaysia. This lady said it best, I quoted from Malaysiakini:

Dian Abdullah: Dr M, you have brought many developments to this country which I believe will give you a prominent place in the history of Malaysia. But I would like to point out along the way, you have forgotten the people who helped you to rule this country for 22 years. That’s right – we the people, citizens, all born here. You instigated racial disharmony and widened the gap for inter-religion understanding. You created an elite of corrupted and arrogant group that brought injustice to our everyday lives which have affected us greatly.

You belittled us and the sultans in whatever way possible to satisfy your lust for power and money. You controlled us like slaves and the voiceless without any rights to our freedom of speech and actions. Your actions also provoked Bapa Merdeka and Hussein Onn to resign and die outside Umno.

Now you have to lower yourself to accept your karma. There is absolutely no way you can enter Umno again. These monsters you created are the very same ones you moulded and placed in power. Now they are returning your kind deeds. If you can remember, when Bapa Merdeka and Hussein Onn resigned, Umno did not blink much. So who do you think you are that you can bring Umno down? Umno will cease to exist only when the middle and lower-class people decide enough is enough. Najib will be the last straw because that is his destiny.

So before anyone of you remind me of how many towers he built, how many race tracks, airports, how long, how tall, how big things he built please remember that

1. He used ISA like toilet paper when he’s in power.

2. He stifled the voice of educated masses. Remember AUKU? Aku Janji crap? Operasi Lalang?

3. He coined the Ketuanan Melayu crap. He made the Malays believe that who believed that the whole world was against the Malay race. Is there such a thing? He did no good to the race relations. He is solely responsible for making Umno a racist, bigoted party it is now.

4. He is a racist mustard. Now he is doing it again. His remarks in Johor on Saturday that Malays stood to lose much in the new political environment where non-Malays were unafraid to make demands. Dr Mahathir told the crowd of some 1,000 in Johor Baru that if Malays keep quiet they will lose their rights and other races will take over. What he is trying to do? What happened to his Bangsa Malaysia and Vision 2020 crap? It is utterly irresponsible for him to make those racist statement in Johor and once again, this is the kind of rhetoric Malaysians of all creed and color voted against in the last general elections.

5. He manipulated the judiciary, now proven by the Royal Commission of Inquiry on Lingam tape. He himself mentioned the judges lobbied for positions. Isn’t that illegal?

6. The list is long!!

So, just because he’s trying to portray himself as a hero now, please do not be so gullible to trust the old man. He is too smart, shrewd and cunning to do things selflessly. Sit back and think, what he will gain by doing all this shits. There’s more to this than meets the eye. I am not telling

ps: Karma is a funny thing. It has its way to get back at you. Be very careful. Karma is a bitch. Definitely.

pss: I love this song very much. I want to make love in the club. Anyone? :XO: :XO:
